Fairytales Re-told

We are learning about Fairytales and have been re-telling the stories we know and love. Here is a story that has been re-told by Kaylyn. We hope you enjoy!

Rapunzel told from the Witches point of view

Hi, I’m the witch from Rapunzel and this is my story. I live in a spooky castle because it was the only house I could afford. I entered a competition for the longest hair. Obviously my hair was short so I had to find someone else with really long hair. I saw someone named Rapunzel and she had super duper long hair. So I went to her and asked “will you help me………..chase my cat”. (Even though I didn’t have one). So she was dumb enough to come with me.

We got to my house and I asked her to wait while I open my door and she barged in and started touching my stuff so I had no choice but to lock her up in a room. So I told her that my cat was upstairs. When we got to the second tower, I threw her in and locked the door and said “you should of listened to your mother”.

I went down stairs to watch some T.V. I got really hungry so I ordered from horse, prince, pizzas. I saw him coming but and then he stopped. He heard someone crying and he remembered a story and said the words “Rapunzel, Rapunzel let down your beard, Wait that’s not right, I mean your hair”. Rapunzel heard him and said “okey dokey”. She let down her hair and the prince climbed up.

I saw what was happening so I called my twin sister but she was dead. The horse, prince pizzas guy and Rapunzel heard the witch coming up. So they jumped out the window. Rapunzel used her hair as propellers on a helicopter and they landed on the ground safely. The witch got up to the second highest and looked down and saw a long haired girl, a pizza guy, a horse and a PIZZA!!!! I saw them ride off eating my pizza. That’s

my point of view but right now I gotta go get my pizza.

Term 3

Welcome back to Term 3 my lovelies!! It was great to see all your smiling faces on Monday... sounds like you all had a great holiday!

I hope you are ready for an action packed term, we have so many awesome things ahead of us!! The production is The Wizard of NZ and we are going to start working on our scene with Room 11 in the next couple of weeks... it is going to be SO much fun!! I am really looking forward to seeing it all come together.

For Maths, we are learning about fractions, percentages and ratios... we have already learnt a few little tricks about how to remember important facts about these topics! DENOMINATORRRRRRR!!!! (Said in a low terminator like voice.) Hahah :P

For Literacy, we are studying fairytales... we will be reading tonnes of these and retelling the stories, as well as writing our own twisted versions! I can't wait to read your awesome work!

Don't forget to hand in your notices and money for the Kapiti College production of Annie next week... they need to be in soon.

New School Song for Week 8 Assembly

Cross Country

School Cross Country was finally held on Friday 28th of May in the afternoon. It was cold and rainy but all the kids made a huge effort! I was so proud of my class, you all did a fantastic job! Ka pai tamariki ma.

Weekend Sport at Ngati Toa

Kia ora koutou e te whanau,

Kei te pehea koe? Kei te pai ahau.

Yesterday I went to visit some of the wonderful members of Room 16 playing their weekend sport down at Ngati Toa Domain. First up was the rugby and it was Nathan and Scotts team VS. Larry and Maraea's team. It was hard to know who to cheer for so I ended up just cheering for the players not the teams! It was a fantastic game, both teams played incredibly well and I was so proud of the players from my room.... Larry made some awesome tackles, Nato scored two tries, Maraea got right in amongst it all and battled for the ball and Scott made some impressive runs down the wing. Nathan and Scotts team won in the end but I think that all the players from our class were the best!! Oh and I saw Maggies team playing, but she was undercover with her head gear on and I didn't recognise her without her pony tail!

Then it was on to the girls netball. First up was Kaylyns team, the Plimmerton Steel... they played Titahi Bay who were a very good team. Sadly the Steel lost the game, but it was good to see the girls out there giving it their all. The next game was Plimmerton Magic. In the team from Room 16 was Lei, Jordyn and Macey. The team played really well with Jordyn shooting some awesome goals... all that practice is paying off Jordy!! The Magic won the game and everyone was very pleased with how well they played, especially considering it was only their second game for the season!

Well done to all the people I watched, it was so awesome to see you guys out there giving it your best shot! I'll try and get back out there in a few weeks time to see another game or two.

Remember- Keep that photo money rolling in, school photos are this Friday... make sure you've got your pretty pink bows for your hair all sorted! Especially you boys!! :P

Mountains and mountains of chips!!

On May the 7th we all brought $3 to school and we had chips for lunch! It was fantastic! There were so many chips we each got to invite in a special guest to help us eat them up... yum yum.

The Captains Birthday!

Hey guys!

Thanks so much for a FANTASTIC birthday today... you guys really spoilt me!! I think this may be the best birthday I've had yet!! :)

Thanks heaps for all the awesome pressies! I didn't expect to get anything, so it was a wonderful surprise! Here is a pic of me with my hat and cake. Awesome... the cake was SO yummy and the hat is just what I've always wanted!

Fantastic day on Kapiti Island

Wow! We had our Kapiti Island trip today and it was FANTASTIC!!! Our anti-rain/wind dances definitely worked (I knew they would) and we had fabulous weather... the walk up the hill was tough work, but everyone made it! We saw heaps of Weka, Kaka, Kereru, Kakariki and lots more!

Thanks to all the AWESOME parents who came along to help, you guys were great, we couldn't have done it without you! And thanks to all the kids for being so well behaved, listening to instructions and working so hard to get up the hill. You guys rock!! I always knew I had the best class in the school.... :P

Kapiti Island Trip this Thursday

Hi de ho,

Just a reminder that we have our trip to Kapiti Island this Thursday. We need to make sure we do Anti-rain/wind dances on Wednesday night... these have been successful in the past and I'm thoroughly confident they will work again.

Be sure to use the gear list to pack your bag and then get someone to check over it for you, just in case you have forgotten something.

Also, remember to bring your $3 for our shared chip lunch on Friday!

Swimming Sports

Hongoeka Syndicate had our Swimming Sports on Thursday the 22nd of April. It was a fantastic day with our class taking out the class relay!! WOOHOOO!!! Go the relay team! You guys rock! Everyone in the Syndicate swam incredibly well, with some very close finishes to some of the races. Great fun was had by all :)

ANZAC Day Dawn Services in Porirua

Services held in Porirua City

The normal services conducted are:

• Pukerua Bay: Dawn Parade at 6.00 am, a service in the Pukerua Bay School Community Hall at 11.00 am and the laying of the wreath at Whenua Tapu Cemetery at 12.00 noon.
• Titahi Bay: Dawn Parade at 6.30 am and a service at the Whitehouse Road Cenotaph at 10.30am before the wreath laying at Whenua Tapu.
• Porirua: The Dawn Service is held at the memorial outside the Porirua RNZRSA, in McKillop Street, at 6.00 am The main Civic Service for the City is held at the Peace Memorial in Te Rauparaha Park at 9.00 am. In the event of inclement weather, the service is held under the canopies in the City Centre.
• Pauatahanui: A memorial service is conducted at St Alban's Church, Pauatahanui, commencing at 10.00a m. After the service the wreath laying is conducted at the War Memorial in Pauatahanui.
• Takapuwahia: A service is held at the Takapuwahia marae at 10.30 am
• Whenua Tapu: A wreath laying service is conducted at 12.00 noon for all RSA's and Councils in the Porirua basin from Johnsonville to Pukerua Bay

Here are some options of services you could go to if you and your whanau decide you want to go and pay your respects to the fallen soldiers!

We will remember them.

Room 16 2010

Kia ora tatou te whanau!

Well, last term was AWESOME! We did so many exciting things, Camp, Rippa Rugby Tournament, loads of testing, we wrote reports about the human body aaaand we did Life Education with Harold ... awesome stuff!

So, welcome back to Term 2 in Room 16! We have heeeeaps of really exciting stuff happening this term with our Kapiti Island Trip in Week 3, ANZAC day studies this week and Swimming sports tomorrow (just to name a few things!)
